Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and DongYouGuan. By using our extension or this website, you agree to them. Operator: Vector Leap (Zhongshan) Technology Co., Ltd. (向量跃迁(中山)科技有限责任公司; Unified Social Credit Code 91442000MAKL5PFN10). Payments are collected by Paddle: Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders, and card statements show a descriptor starting with PADDLE.NET*. Contact email: support@dongyouguan.com.
1. What we provide
DongYouGuan is a Chrome extension (Chrome Web Store name: 懂油管 - 中文字幕翻译 for YouTube™) that translates the subtitles of YouTube videos into Chinese. It also offers supporting tools: comment and title translation, Chinese versions of the watch page's title, description and chapters, Chinese search, a full transcript, video highlights, investment risk hints, region translate (translating the text inside an area you select on the video picture), and playback speed and quality controls.
Translations, highlights and risk hints are generated by AI and can be wrong. Be especially careful with names, numbers and technical terms. We do not guarantee that translations are accurate or complete. Please check anything important yourself. Investment risk hints are for reference only, are not investment advice, and are not a judgement about the video creator.
DongYouGuan is intended for users who can already watch YouTube normally. A video must have subtitles to be translated.
DongYouGuan is not directed at users under 14. If you are under 14, please do not create an account or use the translation service we host; if we find such an account, we will suspend it and delete the related personal information. We do not currently offer the service to users in the European Union or the European Economic Area (EEA).
2. Our relationship with YouTube and Google
DongYouGuan is an independent extension. It is not an official YouTube or Google product and is not affiliated with either.
The copyright in videos and subtitles belongs to their original authors. We only show translations on your own browser page. You are responsible for following YouTube's terms of service and the laws where you live.
3. Accounts
- The translation service we host requires you to sign in, with an email code or a Google account.
- One account can be used on any number of devices, signed in at the same time. Quota is counted per account. A sign-in stays active on a device for 90 days.
- An account is for you only. You may not resell it, rent it out, or share it with others for profit.
- Keep your email and sign-in safe. We treat use under your account as your own use.
4. Your own API key (advanced use)
Advanced users can switch to their own API key in Settings. This mode costs nothing from us (your API provider bills you for API usage) and needs no sign-in. Subtitle data goes straight from your browser to the provider you choose and does not pass through our servers. In this mode, the small image area you select with "region translate" is also sent by your browser straight to the address you entered, not through us. Any charges and terms between you and that provider are your agreement with them. We take no part in it and are not responsible for it.
5. Quota
- Quota is measured in tokens. Subtitle translation, comment and title translation, Chinese search, video highlights, risk deep analysis and other hosted features draw from the same quota (for risk deep analysis, free accounts get 5 runs a month and members use quota). Region translate draws from the same quota too.
- In the interface we mainly show it as "about X hours of video", with the token count in a smaller place. The conversion assumes roughly 120,000 tokens per hour of video (subtitle translation only); it is an estimate and varies with the video and subtitle type.
- Free plan: 80,000 tokens of premium translation per month, about 40 minutes of video, reset on the 1st of each month (Beijing time).
- Paid plan: 6,000,000 tokens per month, about 50 hours of video. A period is 30 days counted from the day you start. This is the same for monthly, yearly, the 30-day pass and the 365-day pass; yearly and the 365-day pass also get 6,000,000 tokens every 30 days, not a whole year's quota at once.
- Quota you do not use in one period does not carry over to the next.
- When quota runs out: On the free plan, once your premium translation quota is used up, you can click "Keep going with basic translation"; subtitles, home and search result titles, comments, Chinese search terms and watch-page titles, descriptions and chapters are then translated through the free Microsoft or Google translation endpoints, sent directly by your browser and not through our server. Quality is lower than premium translation and there is no glossary. These endpoints are not public commercial interfaces, can stop working at any time, and we do not guarantee they will be available. AI overview, explain-this, region translate and AI term generation need an upgrade; deep risk analysis does not use this quota, so free accounts still get 5 runs a month and need an upgrade once those are used. Your quota comes back on the 1st of next month. On the paid plan, when the period's quota is used up you can likewise click "Keep going with basic translation" (same notes as above), and premium translation resumes in the next period; the interface shows the date it resumes. We do not sell top-up packs at the moment.
- Rewatching a video you have recently watched on the same computer usually uses the cache on that computer and does not use quota. The cache holds about 200 videos and replaces the least recently watched first; after we update the translation rules or you edit your glossary, older videos are translated again and use quota again. If you switch computers, clear your browser data, or the cache has been cleared, watching it again also uses quota again. Speed control and subtitle size adjustments do not use quota.
6. Pricing and payment
All prices are in Chinese yuan (CNY), and prices shown to buyers with a mainland China address include tax. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. This means Paddle is the legal seller of every transaction: you buy from Paddle, and Paddle charges you, issues the receipt, processes refunds and handles chargebacks. Your purchase from Paddle is also subject to Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms (https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms). The DongYouGuan service itself is provided by its operator, Vector Leap (Zhongshan) Technology Co., Ltd. (向量跃迁(中山)科技有限责任公司). None of this has anything to do with Google or YouTube.
- Monthly: launch price CNY 19.9 / month, about 50 hours of video per month; list price CNY 29.9 / month. The launch period is the first 3 months starting from the day DongYouGuan is publicly listed on the Chrome Web Store, or until 500 paying users have taken the launch price, whichever comes first (the exact dates will be stated here on the listing day). The price switches on the day the launch period ends; it is not extended or reopened, and new subscriptions after that are CNY 29.9 / month. If you start during the launch period and your membership does not lapse, you keep paying CNY 19.9. "Does not lapse" means the subscription has not ended; if you cancel, change your mind and email us to undo the cancellation before it ends, that still counts (Paddle's self-service page cannot undo a cancellation; see section 7). If you start again after it has ended, the price at that time applies. Whether you get the launch price depends on when you open the payment page; places are counted in the order payments complete, so when the limit is close, several people paying at the same time may all get the launch price.
- Yearly: launch price CNY 168 / year, list price CNY 249 / year. It shares the launch period with monthly (same dates and the same 500 places; launch-price monthly, yearly and one-time pass payments all count towards the places). New yearly subscriptions after the launch period are CNY 249 / year. If you start yearly during the launch period and your membership does not lapse, you keep paying CNY 168. "Does not lapse" means the same as for monthly. The year is split into 12 periods of 6,000,000 tokens each (every 30 days; the last period is 35 days).
- How monthly and yearly are paid: through Paddle, currently by bank card; Alipay is being applied for and will appear on the payment page once approved. Monthly renews automatically every month and yearly every year: each period is charged automatically when it ends, until you cancel, and we email you a reminder before each automatic charge. You can cancel at any time under "Manage subscription" in the extension.
- 30-day one-time pass: paid through Paddle, currently by bank card (Alipay is being applied for and will appear on the payment page once approved), at the same price as monthly for the period you buy in: CNY 19.9 during the launch period and CNY 29.9 after it. Each purchase is charged at the price on the day you buy; prices are not locked. One purchase gives you 30 days; it does not renew automatically. If you buy early, the extra days are added after your current end date.
- 365-day one-time pass: paid the same way, at the same price as yearly for the period you buy in: CNY 168 during the launch period and CNY 249 after it. Each purchase is charged at the price on the day you buy; prices are not locked. One purchase gives you 365 days; it does not renew automatically. Quota is 6,000,000 tokens every 30 days. If you buy early, the extra days are added after your current end date.
- While you still have membership days: if you still have unused days, such as a 30-day or 365-day pass or a membership redeemed from invite days, you cannot start monthly or yearly yet; wait until those days run out, so that the days and the subscription do not run at the same time. To keep going in the meantime, you can buy another one-time pass, and its days are added after your current end date.
- Switching from monthly to yearly: if you have a monthly subscription and want yearly, first cancel the monthly one under "Manage subscription" in the extension, then start yearly after the current period ends.
- Referral discount: if you came through an invite link whose code gives the discount offer, your first payment is CNY 10 off, whether it is monthly, yearly, the 30-day pass or the 365-day pass. At launch prices the first payment is CNY 9.9 for monthly or the 30-day pass and CNY 158 for yearly or the 365-day pass; after the launch period it is CNY 19.9 and CNY 239.
- If your card issuer charges cross-border or currency conversion fees, those are set by the bank and are not part of our listed price.
7. Cancelling a subscription
Uninstalling the extension does not cancel automatic renewal.
To stop being charged, you must cancel the subscription.
For a monthly or yearly subscription, cancel automatic renewal on Paddle's customer self-service page: the extension popup and the account section of Settings both have a "Manage subscription" entry that opens it, and you can also manage the subscription from the link in the receipt email Paddle sends you. After you cancel, the next period is not charged and your membership lasts until the end of the current period. Paddle's self-service page can cancel but cannot undo a cancellation; if you change your mind, email support@dongyouguan.com before the current period ends and we will undo it for you, so the subscription keeps renewing at its original price. Please do not start a new subscription in the extension, as that would leave you with two subscriptions. A 30-day or 365-day one-time pass never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.
8. Refunds
You can get a full refund, no questions asked and with no usage limit, if you ask within 14 days of your first payment for a membership type. "First payment" counts once per membership type: the first purchase of a 30-day pass, the first purchase of a 365-day pass, the first charge of a monthly subscription and the first charge of a yearly subscription each qualify. Renewal charges and repeat payments for the same membership type are outside this no-questions-asked refund. Refunds are processed by Paddle and returned to the original payment method; we also honour any refund Paddle grants under its own refund policy. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. Yearly and 365-day members: for long service outages, you can apply for the pro-rated refund in section 11 during the outage or within 30 days after it ends. Deleting your account is not itself a refund; apply first if you want one. How to apply and how the money comes back are in the Refund Policy.
Read the full Refund Policy9. Invoices
Paddle issues a receipt for every payment and sends it to the email you give at checkout. We do not issue Chinese VAT invoices (fapiao).
10. Chargebacks and abuse
- If something is wrong with a charge, please email us first and we will deal with it. If you file a chargeback with your bank, the matching membership ends right away; we may suspend an account that files chargebacks in bad faith.
- Accounts that farm the free quota, register in bulk, resell accounts, or crack or bypass quota limits will be banned.
- We ban accounts, not IP addresses. After an account is suspended, the extension shows a message (in Chinese) saying the account has been suspended and to contact support if you have questions.
11. Availability
We do not promise the service runs 24 hours a day without interruption. A YouTube page redesign, a failure at a third-party model provider or an unstable network can make features temporarily unavailable.
Batches that fail because the service cannot be reached or returns an error (including the model provider cutting the connection partway) are not charged against your quota; if you jump elsewhere or close the page while a batch is being translated, that batch is charged for the part already translated. A video without subtitles cannot be translated yet and does not use quota either.
Pro-rated refund for long outages: if, for reasons on our side (including failures at the model providers or servers we use), the core subtitle translation feature is unavailable for 7 or more consecutive days, yearly and 365-day members can email us, during the outage or within 30 days after it ends (renewal payments included), to get back the money for the remaining days: refund = amount paid for the current period × days remaining in the period ÷ total days in the period (total days means the membership days covered by that payment: the current subscription year for yearly, 365 days for the 365-day pass; days bought in advance that have not started yet are refunded in full), with the remaining days counted from the day the outage began. This clause applies only to yearly and 365-day members. Whether it counts as an outage is decided by our service announcements or our own verification, and means an outage affecting most users, not a problem with a single account. After the refund, that membership ends and any automatic renewal is cancelled. Problems on your side (your network, device or browser settings) or YouTube itself being unreachable do not count as an outage. This does not affect the no-questions-asked refund in section 8 or your other statutory rights.
12. Changes to prices and features
We may change prices, quota and features. We will tell you ahead of time through the website, the extension or email. A price increase does not apply to a period you have already paid for. Monthly and yearly members who started during the launch period keep the launch price as long as their membership does not lapse.
13. Termination and account deletion
- You can stop using the service at any time. To delete your account, use the one-click option in the account section of Settings, or email us; we complete email requests within 15 business days.
- Deletion takes effect as soon as you confirm: you are signed out on all devices, the account is deactivated, and automatic renewal is cancelled on the spot. Remaining membership days and invite days are forfeited. Deleting the account is not itself a refund; apply under the Refund Policy first if you want one.
- Within 30 days, we delete your account and usage records. Payment records are kept for 10 years (Article 29 of the Implementing Rules of the PRC Tax Collection and Administration Law requires tax-related records to be kept for 10 years; counted from the end of the accounting year in which the payment was made), for tax reconciliation, refunds and chargebacks: the records no longer hold your email, but they keep the payment provider's order IDs and similar IDs, which the payment provider can trace back to the payer. Your invite code and the invite in which you were the invitee are deleted; your reward-day ledger, the invites you made and your membership records are moved to a placeholder ID that holds no email, without affecting days the other person already received. If you sign up again with the same email within one year, you get a brand-new empty account. The device ID (reported at every sign-in and used only to match invites and to tell whether invite rewards and invite discounts are going to several accounts on the same computer) is kept for about 12 months. Deletion cannot be undone. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is kept.
- If you break these terms, we may suspend or terminate your account.
14. Limitation of liability, governing law and disputes
Scope of our liability. If we breach these terms or the law and you suffer loss as a result, we are liable to compensate you as the law provides. Compensation is limited to the loss you actually suffer, and does not go beyond the loss we foresaw, or ought to have foreseen, when the contract was made.
Translations are an aid to reading. Translations, highlights and risk hints are generated by AI and can be wrong, and we do not guarantee that they are accurate or complete (section 1 says so too). Please check them yourself before you make an investment, trading or other important decision based on them.
Liability we never limit. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for loss caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that protects you as a consumer, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
Users whose habitual residence is outside mainland China. To the extent the law where you live allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss (including loss of profit, data or goodwill) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service; and our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the fees you actually paid for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or CNY 100 if you have not paid anything. The liabilities listed in the previous paragraph are not subject to this limit.
Governing law. These terms, and their formation, validity, interpretation and performance, are governed by the laws of mainland China (the People's Republic of China, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. If your habitual residence is outside mainland China, the provisions of the law there that protect consumers and cannot be excluded by agreement still apply to you.
Disputes. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will first be negotiated in good faith. If that fails, you may ask a consumer association or another lawfully established mediation body to mediate, complain to the market regulator or another competent authority, or bring a claim before a court with jurisdiction, determined under the Civil Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China. If your habitual residence is outside mainland China, the courts at the operator's place of domicile (Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China) also have jurisdiction; this does not affect your right to sue in the courts where you live under the law there.
Your purchase from Paddle. You buy your membership from Paddle, which handles payment, receipts, refunds and chargebacks under Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms (see section 6); the governing law and dispute resolution in those terms apply to that purchase. This section covers only the agreement between you and us about the DongYouGuan service.

Complaints and reports. If you believe that translations, highlights, risk hints or other content generated by DongYouGuan are unlawful, infringe your or someone else's rights (such as copyright, reputation or personal information), or are clearly wrong in a way that could mislead others, you can complain or report it by emailing the address above, with "Complaint" or "Report" in the subject line. How we handle it:

- We reply within 2 business days to tell you whether we have accepted the complaint; if we need more material, we say what is missing.
- Once accepted, we look into it and act on what we find, for example by correcting the translation rules involved or stopping the feature for that content.
- We finish within 15 business days of accepting the complaint and email you the outcome; if a case is complex and needs longer, we first tell you why and when to expect it.
