These terms are the agreement between you and DongYouGuan. By using our extension or this website, you agree to them. Operator: Allen Fong (individual developer; FANG AILUN is the same person, legal name as on passport), who receives Stripe payments personally. The merchant name on your card, Alipay or WeChat Pay statement may be FANG AILUN or the statement descriptor we set in Stripe; for card payments made through Paddle, the statement shows PADDLE.NET*. Contact email: support@dongyouguan.com.

1. What we provide

DongYouGuan is a Chrome extension (Chrome Web Store name: 懂油管 - 中文字幕翻译 for YouTube™) that translates the subtitles of YouTube videos into Chinese. It also offers supporting tools: comment and title translation, Chinese search, a full transcript, video highlights, investment risk hints, region translate (translating the text inside an area you select on the video picture) and playback speed control.

Translations, highlights and risk hints are generated by AI and can be wrong. Be especially careful with names, numbers and technical terms. We do not guarantee that translations are accurate or complete. Please check anything important yourself. Investment risk hints are for reference only, are not investment advice, and are not a judgement about the video creator.

DongYouGuan is intended for users who can already watch YouTube normally. A video must have subtitles to be translated.

2. Our relationship with YouTube and Google

DongYouGuan is an independent extension. It is not an official YouTube or Google product and is not affiliated with either.

The copyright in videos and subtitles belongs to their original authors. We only show translations on your own browser page. You are responsible for following YouTube's terms of service and the laws where you live.

3. Accounts

4. Your own API key (advanced use)

Advanced users can switch to their own API key in Settings. This mode costs nothing from us (your API provider bills you for API usage) and needs no sign-in. Subtitle data goes straight from your browser to the provider you choose and does not pass through our servers. In this mode, the small image area you select with "region translate" is also sent by your browser straight to the address you entered, not through us. Any charges and terms between you and that provider are your agreement with them. We take no part in it and are not responsible for it.

5. Quota

6. Pricing and payment

All prices are in Chinese yuan (CNY). Who the seller is depends on the payment channel: when you pay through Stripe, the seller is the extension's operator personally (payee: FANG AILUN) and Stripe is only the payment processor; when payment is switched to Paddle, Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record and is the legal seller of that transaction (see below). Either way, it has nothing to do with Google or YouTube.

7. Cancelling a subscription

Uninstalling the extension does not cancel automatic renewal.

To stop being charged, you must cancel the subscription.

For a monthly subscription, cancel automatic renewal on the customer self-service page (Stripe's page, or Paddle's if the backup provider took the payment). The extension popup and the account section of Settings both have a "Manage subscription" entry. After you cancel, the next period is not charged and your membership lasts until the end of the current period. A 30-day one-time pass never renews, so there is nothing to cancel.

8. Refunds

You can get a full refund if you ask within 7 days of your first payment and your usage is no more than about 340,000 tokens (about 2 hours of video). "First payment" counts once per membership type: the first purchase of a 30-day pass and the first actual charge of a monthly subscription (and, once they open, of a yearly plan or 365-day pass) each qualify, and each account can get one refund per membership type; if your first monthly charge was postponed, the 7 days and the usage both count from the day of the actual first charge. In every other case, including renewal charges and repeat payments for the same membership type, payments are not refunded. Deleting your account is not itself a refund; apply first if you want one. How to apply and how the money comes back are in the Refund Policy.

9. Invoices

Payments by bank card, Alipay or WeChat Pay through Stripe come with a Stripe electronic receipt; payments through Paddle come with a receipt issued by Paddle. We do not issue Chinese VAT invoices (fapiao).

10. Chargebacks and abuse

11. Availability

We do not promise the service runs 24 hours a day without interruption. A YouTube page redesign, a failure at a third-party model provider or an unstable network can make features temporarily unavailable.

Batches that fail (cannot reach the service, service error, or a section that did not get translated) are not charged against your quota. A video without subtitles cannot be translated yet and does not use quota either.

12. Changes to prices and features

We may change prices, quota and features. We will tell you ahead of time through the website, the extension or email. A price increase does not apply to a period you have already paid for. Monthly members who started during the launch period keep the launch price as long as their membership does not lapse.

13. Termination and account deletion

14. Limitation of liability, governing law and disputes

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law: DongYouGuan is provided as is, and we do not guarantee that translations are accurate or complete or fit for your particular purpose; we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss (including loss of profit, data or goodwill) arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service; and our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the fees you actually paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or RMB 100 if you have not paid anything. This section does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including loss caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, and does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law and disputes. These terms are governed by and construed under the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. Any dispute arising from these terms or the service will first be negotiated in good faith; if that fails, it will be submitted to the courts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This does not affect any consumer protection given to you by the law where you live that cannot be excluded by agreement.
